One of my favorite memories as a child was going to visit my grandparents in Lynchburg, VA during the summers.  I remember the soil being like red clay and their front yard would be filled with fireflies at night.  My grandma would always bake a cake or something and used an old turn dial timer.  What I liked most was riding around on a post-church Sunday afternoon in my graddaddy’s Cadillac.  I loved climbing onto the huge leather seats, getting lost and baking in the southern sun.

My grandma died while we were in the process of recording this EP.  She had been ill for a long time.  And so the EP’s dedicated to her.

Not long now… We’ll be seeing you all again real soon, can’t wait.

Once again… super thanx to everyone that came down to the London shows!!! YoYo was fierce, you made our day, seriously.

Now.. on to the real matter.  I don’t believe downloading etc etc. is destroying music.

MO – we fuss with mo.. dude has to have one of the most positive outlooks on life of anyone we know.. mo makes some boxxx fresh videos and a I worked on a few as the shittest playback operator™ in the world (can u believe that?)… literally I was like a kid that convinced himself he was gonna go pee on his mean old neighbor’s fence, and so rounded up all his friends to watch him do it, and when he got there.. nothing, not a drop.. that was me on set… someone’d yell “PLAYBACK!”… and I’d just freeze – bizzare… 

CHARLENE – charlene is a friend of ours that has an insane tolerance for fuckery… the number of times that we’ve said “yes, I’m on my way” and never made it, a) in time or b) at all is a testament to this tolerance. she used to work at our booking agent’s office and once tried to guide me by phone

to try and find the fucking place. anyway… she’s pure jokes.. and apparently good with firearms. we fuss we charlene.. we fuss with her des mucho.

REUBEN – this is our friend Reuben.. we had him round for dinner the other night (lasagna.. picture to follow) & it’s funny, seeing as though in no less than 6 days I’ll be leaving for berlin, that reuben was one of the first people I met in liverpool.  he used to dj at a really cool club called evol at heebie jeebies where I also met Linus and we all basically spent a good portion of our collective teens//twenties getting absolutely trashed and dancing to the early hours of saturday morning. i have fond memories of that time and so more than just a salute to reuben.. this is also a salute to liverpool circa 2003 -2004. =) those that were there, know what i’m talking about. reuben, liverpool… we fuss, we fuss alot.

MARY EPWORTH AND THE JUBILEE BAND – we fuss with mary.. an awful lot b. she makes the kind of dope, stripped down, yet oddly orchestrated folk psych pop that makes you want to strip off all your clothes and get your Christopher Lee on…

CHAD - chad’s a friend of ours from new york. he works on films and shit like that and says things like ‘carina, I like the air of non disclosure’.. after being asked to come to bedford avenue for a cofee and then being roped into helping us carry a load of shit to the lower east side… i actually laughed so hard my sides hurt… we fuss with chad.. we fuss with him alot..

AND FINALLY…..

CAROL THATCHER – what can we say… we fuss with carol right about now. she’s been getting alot of flack ever since she got layed off & shit, over some silly comments she made at work.  so we try to make sure we spend that extra little bit of time with her, and you know, we share some of the same passions; horticulture, climbing, tennis, fashion, parties… lately we’ve started getting all done up and going out raving together:

carol.. I don’t care what anyone else says… that time when you doused that rag, stuck it in a bottle, lit it and threw it through that guy’s window in New Cross … priceless. we fuss with you Carol, we fuss with you alot.

oh yeah.. we were so kindly informed that we got a mention in Attitude Magazine… they called “pussy got 9 lives” a “fervent mash up of punk, rave & hip hop”. whooo hooo!!!! xxx

it killed some time, but more importantly made me think that this bird is the new sampler for 2010….

BANGERZ N MASH – the new Salt N Pepa b.  we fuss with them, we fuss with them allll day.

SPIDER J – this man here has been instrumental in some of our Heaviest productions.. namely “What U Can’t Kill U Must Envy” & “Pussy Got 9 Lives”.  he’s also done stuff for everyone from Lee “Scratch” Perry, Killa Kela, Estelle… list is endless. we fuss with this dude.

BENJAMIN – we met ben in new york… he takes amazing photographs and has an amazing way of viewing the world.  he also got us really really trashed on vodka. thank you benjamin. we fuss with you.

NOREEN – noreen and carina (label manager of Gold Swine) used to work on film sets together in new york. noreen still does. she works in the art department, tells funny stories and has a really cool car that is only steps away from being completely unmanned. seriously, it has no key, turns itself off at stop lights (very green) and has a nifty little camera that shows you how close you are to cars behind you while you’re trying to parallel park. we fuss with noreen. muchos.

OWEN PRATT – owen once drove us 15 hours to berlin through the euro tunnel to do a show, did our sound, packed up then turned right back around and drove all the way back to london AFTER having done the sound for us the night before at the great escape festival (where we met our friend Ed Howard:who we also fuss with)…. i also once saw owen walk out onto a 5 inch wide wooden beam, in a disused elevator shaft on the 5th floor of a warehouse, just so that he could hang a neon light for this illegal rave that linus & I were throwing… we fuss with owen.

CARINA – carina runs the label, Gold Swine, that puts out our singles, pays for us to travel and wipes our bottoms when we behave like babies.  she comes on tour with us, is insanely good at haggling, making us seem likable and keeping the ship on course. without carina.. we would be lost at sea. she also has an intense knowledge of european history. we fuss with carina. we fuss with her alot.

PENELOPE EDMUND – self produced, self funded, self inspired…. and DOPE. we fuss, we fuss alot.

THE REAL HEAT – our sisters from down south.BRIXXXXTON!!!  if the 3 of us boys in the band were to lose our penises and morph into really hot, fierce siblings… well we still wouldn’t be the real heat, but hopefully you get the point. they make some of the dopest pop around and their mother is one of the best cooks I know. we fuss with them.. all day, erryday.
